Nathaneal Player / What Practitioners Need to Know About the Utah Court Self-Help Center

Event Details

Nathanael Player is the Director of the Utah State Courts’ Self-Help Center, which provides free legal help and information to thousands of people trying to navigate Utah’s legal system. He serves on numerous committees working to increase access to justice for the people of Utah. Prior to joining the courts, Nathanael represented low-income tenants facing eviction for seven years in San Francisco and Washington, D.C. As the supervising attorney of a legal clinic in San Francisco he oversaw the litigation of hundreds of eviction cases, managed eleven attorneys and helped to establish a trial program, filling a gap in the city’s legal services. He also supervised the drafting of two data-driven reports on the state of evictions in San Francisco, which were instrumental in passing amendments to buttress the city’s tenant protections.
