2023 Peacekeeper

Karrie Ketchum

Karrie Ketchum exemplifies what a mediator and peacekeeper should be.  She is universally well-like and is known for her exceptional ability to bring people together and make them feel comfortable.  Karrie is one of the most active and committed younger members of Utah’s mediation community.  She has held many roles in ADR and has had a positive impact in each one.  Karrie values quality mediation and continues to educate herself as she mentors other mediators in our community.  She has developed training materials and shared her peacemaking skills with employers and employees, as well as with schools and companies.  Her empathy and desire to help people is evident in all she does.  She is wise, warm, kind, organized, and a natural leader.  Karrie is helping our community obtain the skills needed for a more peaceful world.

After the untimely passing of Jenaveve Arnoldus, Karrie stepped in and seamlessly took over as the Executive Director of Utah Dispute Resolution (UDR) where she has worked for the past seven years.  At UDR, Karrie has conducted hundreds of mediations and co-mediations.  Karrie has been a primary trainer and mentor for mediators aspiring to achieve Court Mediator Roster status, a volunteer family and community mediator.  She coordinated Small Claims Court mediators and managed UDR cases.  She now represents UDR on the State Court Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee.  Karrie is both a paralegal and master mediator with domestic roster status.

For several years, Karrie served as the Administrator for Utah Council on Conflict Resolution (UCCR) where she managed UCCR’s 150 members, prepared monthly UCCR CLE events, and handled all administrative duties for UCCR, including its annual symposium.

In addition to all this, Karrie is a devoted lacrosse and ski mom, gardener, raiser of ducks, chickens, and turkeys, and the co-owner of a construction company with her husband, Zane.
